The Bay Area Garden Railway Society's Line

The BAGRS was at Ardenwood to show the delights of garden railroading. They seemed to be attracting a lot of interest and I suspect their numbers will be swelling soon. Here are some shots of their 45mm gauge live steam exhibition line.

A magnificent Accucraft C21 draws admiring glances from the crowd as she steams past

A closer view of the C21

Portrait of a C21, while in the background the Mich-Cal Shay is being prepared for a run

The C21 is steaming round the inner circuit while the Shay is steamed ready to take the coal train out

A close-up of the process of raising steam on an Accucraft Shay

Also running was this rather battered Ruby, converted to radio control

Ruby has clearly had a hard life, but still steams well and runs fast and furious

A close-up of the Mich-Cal Shay with con-rods blurring and relaitvely little forward speed

Finally, a short (2.2MB) movie of C21 #360 in action.
